There will be a lot less drama at the March FCC Open Meeting than there was during the February Open Meeting, where the Commissioners took on the net neutrality issue. But there is a STELA item on the agenda of interest to television broadcasters.
The repercussions of the February meeting have been echoing loud and clear all week a few blocks away from the FCC as the Commissioners have made multiple trips to the Capitol to meet in public with legislators in both houses.
The March meeting will be held Thursday 3/26/15 at 10:30 AM.
Here’s what’s on the agenda:
Market Modification: The Commission will consider a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to implement Section 102 of the STELA Reauthorization Act of 2014, which directs the Commission to adopt rules that permit the modification of a commercial television broadcast station’s local television market for purposes of satellite carriage rights, including the promotion of consumers’ access to television broadcast station signals that originate in their State of residence
There is only one other item on the agenda, concerning local number portability.
