FCC Native American radio initiatives open for discussion

As part of a proceeding to promote rural radio service, the FCC has notices of proposed rulemakings floated concerning the establishment of bidding credits for Native American Tribes and Alaska Native Villages. And it’s also looking at ways to benefit Native American groups that do not have tribal land set aside.

The Rural Radio First Report and Order, to which the requests for further commentary are attached, was published in the Federal Register 3/4/10. That sets the Native American proceeding into motion, with comments due 5/3/10 and reply comments due 6/3/10. The report and order is listed as MB Docket No. 09-52.
