FCC Ops Center Set For Hurricane Matthew Calls

The FCC has announced that its Operations Center will be available to address emergency communications needs 24 hours a day throughout the weekend, as Hurricane Matthew continues to potentially wreak havoc on coastal communities in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina.


The FCC Operations Center is available for all emergency communications providers, including broadcasters, cable service providers, wireless and wireline service providers, satellite service providers, emergency response managers and first responders.

It is also available to others needing assistance to initiate, resume, or maintain communications operations during the weekend.

As of 1 p.m. Eastern, the cone of impact has shifted north, and areas from West Palm Beach through the Treasure Coast of Florida are now expected to feel the brunt of the Category 4 storm.
