Two weeks from today, the Media Bureau will host a Symposium on “Current and Future Trends in the Broadcast Radio and Television Industries” designed to provide insight and input into the current and future trends, challenges, and opportunities facing over-the-air media.
The timing couldn’t be better: The FCC this morning filed a petition in the Third Circuit Federal Appeals Court seeking an en banc review of the panel’s 2-1 decision vacating its cross-ownership media rule “modernization” order.
The move signals that the Commission has no interest in reworking its rules, and is intent on getting a Court sign-off — even though one respected media broker told RBR+TVBR such a move would be risky for the FCC.
