FCC still on the analog retail case

Three electronics outlets have just entered into consent decrees with the FCC over the issue of analog television equipment being offered for sale on line or in brick and mortar locations. These are not forfeitures, but as is the case with consent decrees, Big Lots nin contributing $48K to the US Treasury, Variety Wholesalers is contributing $38K and BJ’s Wholesale Club is contributing $20K. Under the terms, they are required to link to the FCC’s dtv.gov website on all of their websites, make sure appropriate signage is displayed in all stores, mention the DTV transition in at least 50% of their print advertisements and completely cease the sale of analog-only equipment by 9/1/08. The term of the agreements ends on 2/17/09.
