FCC Votes For Sinclair Hearing Order

Wednesday morning started with the announcement by Sinclair Broadcast Group that it seeks to salvage its $3.9 billion merger with Tribune Media by scuttling the sale of WGN-9 in Chicago to an entity controlled by a confidant of Sinclair’s Executive Chairman and scrapping the sale of TV stations in Dallas and Houston to Cunningham Media, whose majority shareholders are the heirs of Sinclair’s founder.

The FCC just said no dice: This evening, the Commission unanimously voted to adopt a Hearing Designation Order regarding the Sinclair/Tribune transaction.

No further details were released, but the FCC expects the Order will be released publicly on Thursday.
