FCC will air out Comcast/NBCU in Chicago

As expected, the FCC will take its show on the road as it examines the proposed merger of Comcast and NBC Universal. The session is booked for 7/13/10, in Chicago, and will run from 1PM-8PM local time.

That will place it about a month and a week after the House Judiciary Committee also goes on the road. It will convene a meeting on Comcast/NBCU 6/7/10 in Los Angeles.

The FCC session, billed as a public forum, will be held at Northwestern University Law School’s Thorne Auditorium. There will be two panels followed by an opportunity for the public to participate beginning at 6PM.
NBCU O&O television stations in Chicago include NBC WMAQ and Telemundo WSNS. Comcast is also active in Chicago, and operates regional sports channel Comcast SportsNet.

Details on panelists will be forthcoming.

RBR-TVBR observation: Not to be overly snarky about it, but what better place to expend some hot air on the proposed merger than the Windy City? On second thought, maybe that is overly snarky.
