Feingold holds lead over radio’s Thompson

At this point a US Senate race between Russ Feingold (D-WI) and former Wisconsin Republican governor Tommy Thompson is a hypothetical – Thompson is said to be only considering jumping into the race – but if he were in it he would be playing catch-up. According to blog TPMDC, Feingold would best Thompson 50%-41% if the race were held now.

Feingold holds even bigger leads against other prospective Republican opponents.

Thompson also served as Secretary of Health and Human Services under George W. Bush, and was also an unsuccessful candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008.

He is former chairman of the relatively young Armada Radio Group, which began acquiring stations in unrated markets a few years back.

Some might want to take the poll results with at least a fast food restaurant packet sized shake of salt – the poll was conducted by Public Policy Polling, which according to TPMDC is affiliated with the Democratic Party.
