The FCC’s Auction 100 opens Thursday, and runs through Jan. 31. AMs that applied for a cross-service translator in either of the 2016 windows (existing translators) or last year’s first window (new translators) cannot participate in the auction. AMs listed as the primary station in those earlier three windows are also ineligible to participate.
It still might not be too late to “get in line” for Thursday’s auction, depending on the market and availability of decent spectrum. Once the window closes, however, the only option will once again be to buy an existing translator on the open market and move it.
