Fisher Communications has launched its fourth affiliate of Weigel Broadcasting’s This TV network. The new launch is on digital channel 29.2 of Class A LPTV KBFX (Fox) Bakersfield, CA.

“This TV Bakersfield” is offering a variety of hit movies from the vast library of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. (MGM), as well as classic television series. In addition to the over-the-air digital multicast signal, the new broadcast is being carried on Digital Brighthouse Channel 40.

Fisher had previously launched This TV as digital multicasts with its stations in Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; and Eugene, OR.

“The digital television transition launched last year is enabling us to provide additional programming free over the air to viewers in Kern County and beyond. As we expand our secondary channels and initiate new offerings such as mobile television, we are fulfilling the promise the digital spectrum offers for broadcasters to better serve the public, said Teresa Burgess, Fisher’s Vice President and General Manager in Bakersfield.

In addition to the Fox affiliate, Fisher owns WBAK-TV (CBS) in Bakersfield.
