Joyce Kaufman will be giving up her mic at WFTL-AM West Palm Beach 850, where she holds down the Noon-3PM shift, but will continue her relationship with the station from her new post in Washington DC on the staff of newly-elected Republican Rep. Allen West (R-FL).

The James Crystal Radio Group outlet put the word out on its website, saying, “WFTL is proud of their midday drive talk host as she goes into the belly of the beast to report to us live from DC! While Joyce has accepted a position on the staff of Congressman-Elect Allen West, CD 22′, she has been retained as our Washington correspondent, with details on her new exciting schedule to be announced soon…keep listening for details!”

Kaufman holds down one of two local shifts on the station, which has a locally-hosted news program from 6AM-9AM. She is tucked in between Dr. Laura and Lou Dobbs. The station also carries Michael Savage and Dennis Miller, among others.

West marks the return of African-Americans to the Republican caucus in Washington. He defeated incumbent Ron Klein (D-FL) by a 54%-46% margin after losing to Klein in 2008 with similar albeit reversed results.
Kaufman is said to have been an early booster of Klein, who has Tea Party ties, and worked on his campaign, appearing as a warm-up speaker out on the trail.
