Football, Fox, ‘Fedex Orange Bowl’ win the male demo

Last night, 01/05/10, in cold Miami, FL seemed to fit better with the Iowa Hawkeyes’ 24-14 win over Georgia Tech. Seen on FOX, the Hawkeyes’ came to not just play they came to win and gave the fans in the stands and the viewing audience a great game.


FOX’s FEDEX ORANGE BOWL won the night among in all key male demos and ranked No. 3 among Adults 18-49, No. 2 in Adults 18-34 and No. 1 in Teens (tie).  

The FEDEX ORANGE BOWL posted an approximate 3.5/9 among Adults 18-49 from 8:30-11p, marking an increase from last year’s FEDEX ORANGE BOWL on 1/1/09 (3.0/8).

Competition
ABC aired back-to-back blocks of Scrubs and Better Off Ted from 8-9p (1.5/4 and 1.3/3) and 9-10p (1.4/4 and 1.1/3).  At 10p, The Forgotten (1.2/3) matched its lowest original rating to date, down -37% from its prior first-run average (1.9/5).

CBS’ NCIS (4.4/12), NCIS: LA (3.7/9) and The Good Wife (3.0/8) were all on par.

The two-hour premiere of NBC’s Biggest Loser 9 (4.6/12) was in line with its cycle 7 premiere on the same night last year (4.5/11). 

The Jay Leno Show (2.2/6) was about average at 10p, but down -24% from the last time it aired out of Biggest Loser (the finale on 12/8/09).

Due to the nature of live sports, Fast Nationals for FOX are approximate.  FOX’s FEDEX ORANGE BOWL Pre-game aired until 8:23p and the FEDEX ORANGE BOWL GAME ran 8:23-11:39p.
