MFM-LogoMedia Financial Management Association’s Distinguished CFO Award was presented posthumously to Anton Guitano. The 37-year CBS staffer was former COO of CBS Local Radio in New York, and CFO for CBS Radio and CBS Television Stations.

He passed away last December.

The award pays tribute to a CFO who has made outstanding contributions to the media industry; it was presented to Guitano’s wife, Eileen and daughter Jessica (Michael) during Media Finance Focus 2016, taking place this week in Denver.

“People respected him because he was always doing things that were not only right for his company, but right for the industry,” said MFM President/CEO Mary Collins.

After beginning his career with Price Waterhouse, Guitano joined CBS in 1978 as a member of the company’s internal audit department. Over the course of his 37-year career with CBS, he rose through the ranks to become Financial Controller for the CBS Television Network; Vice President and General Auditor for CBS, Inc.; Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Financial Officer for CBS Television Stations; and Chief Financial Officer and Senior Executive Vice President, Operations, for CBS Radio. In 2009, Guitano was named Chief Operating Officer of CBS Local Media and was responsible for overseeing the financial and operational success of CBS Corporation’s local television and radio stations as well as the stations’ websites and other digital platforms.
