Former Home Depot CMO takes reins of IPG’s Emerging Media Lab

Nick Brien, President and CEO Mediabrands, the media management unit of IPG, named John Ross, former Home Depot CMO, to become President, Emerging Media Lab.  This appointment is phase one of a larger Mediabrands Retail 3.0 solution to be rolled out this fall.  


Mediabrands is committed to strengthening its intellectual and operational contribution to both retailers and manufacturers reflecting the rapidly changing world of today’s’ marketing environment.  The Emerging Media Lab is dedicated to keeping IPG clients ahead of the latest technology trends and will effectively be re-purposed and re-staged to ensure it represents the best emerging media thinking and retail knowledge and expertise.

John will leverage his years of retail marketing expertise and utilize the wisdom within the Lab to deliver new emerging technology solutions which can drive tangible results for brands at the retail level.  He will ensure the Lab creates and merchandizes proprietary Retail 3.0 thought-leadership across IPG clients, whether retailers or manufactures, who seek to maximize the impact of the marketing activities in the face of the rapidly changing consumer mind-set and the ever-changing digital marketplace.  On the larger Mediabrands Retail 3.0 solution, John will work in lock step with hyper-local agencies led by Dave Walker, President and CEO, NSA and Geoff Kehoe, President, Wahlstrom.  Lori Schwartz, SVP, will continue to manage The Lab, helping John attract and establish new technology partnerships while also promoting the deep emerging media expertise within the new Lab.
