The AMERICAN IDOL Top 2 performance show and the season finale of GLEE gave FOX a Tuesday victory among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54, Teens, and the majority of key demos. FOX beat the #2 network (ABC) last night by +38% among Adults 18-49 (3.6 vs. 2.6 and +93% among Adults 18-34 (2.9 vs. 1.5).
FOX has ranked #1 among Adults 18-49 every night AMERICAN IDOL has aired this season. In fact, last night FOX achieved the highest rated Tuesday night on any network since 2/28/12 (FOX’s own two-hour AMERICAN IDOL).
AMERICAN IDOL: 4.2/13, down -14% from last Wednesday’s Final National, which aired from 8-10pm). Note that this is exactly the same percentage decline IDOL saw last year on the Tuesday performance finale vs. the previous Wednesday
o IDOL is expected to go up by a tenth or two when Finals are released this afternoon.
o AMERICAN IDOL was the #1 program of the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, outperforming the night’s #2 programs (DWTS and America’s Got Talent) by +31% among Adults 18-49.
o IDOL also outperformed the combined 3-net competitor average in the hour by +5% in Adults 18-49 (4.2 vs. 4.0 for ABC/CBS/NBC).
GLEE: 3.0/8, up +20% from last week’s telecasts. This GLEE’s highest A18-49 rating and Total Viewer average in three months (since 2/21/12).
o GLEE won its 9p hour in Adults 18-34, outperforming its nearest competitor in the hour by +17% (2.7 vs. 2.3 for NBC’s America’s Got Talent.)
o GLEE was the highest rated program of the night among Teens and the #2 program in Adults 18-34 behind only AMERICAN IDOL.
Following a DWTS encore at 8pm (1.3/4), ABC’s Dancing With The Stars (3.2/9) delivered its lowest rated season finale ever, down -22% from its finale this fall (4.1/11 on 11/22/11) and -30% from its finale last spring (4.6/11 on 5/24/11).
CBS ran a repeat NCIS: LA at 8pm (1.1/4) and repeats of NCIS at 9pm (1.6/4) and 10p (1.8/5).
Following a repeat America’s Got Talent (1.6/5) at 8pm, NBC’s original America’s Got Talent (3.2/9) at 9pm was down -6% from last week (3.4/10). Dateline NBC: 20th Anniversary Special followed with a 1.6/4.
