Fox season-finale of 'Masterchef' third place Wednesday

Airing against incredibly strong competition last night, the finale of MASTERCHEF posted a 2.0/6 among Adults 18-49, down from last week’s telecast (2.5/7), but on par with its prior Wednesday performance average this summer. 


MASTERCHEF showed substantial growth over the course of the finale, growing +41% in Adults 18-49 and +37% in Total Viewers from its first half hour to its last.
MASTERCHEF ends its run as the No. 1 new series of the summer among Adults 18-49, outperforming the next highest rated (ABC’s Bachelor Pad) by +9% (2.4/7 vs. 2.2/6).

FOX ranked third for the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

Competition

ABC ran repeats of The Middle at 8p (1.1/4) and 830p (1.1/3), followed by repeats of Modern Family (1.5/4), Cougar Town (1.3/3), and Castle (1.0/3).

On CBS, the season premiere of Survivor: Nicaragua posted a 3.9/12, up +8% from last fall’s Survivor: Samoa premiere (3.6/11 on Thurs 9/17/09) but down -13% from the spring premiere of Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains (4.5/12 on Thurs 2/11/10). The two-hour season finale of Big Brother 12 followed with a 2.9/8 from 9-11p, up slightly (+4%) from its finale performance last year (2.8/8 on Tues 9/15/09).

NBC’s America’s Got Talent closed its Summer 10 season with a 3.7/11, up +6% from last season’s finale. At 10p, the series debut of new drama Outlaw posted a 2.4/7, dropping -35% from its AGT lead-in and -31% from The Jay Leno Show’s premiere in the time period on the same night last fall (3.5/10).
