Fox Sunday animation ‘The Simpsons’ a hit with teens


FOX’s 8-10p animation block showed significant increases last night compared to FOX’s 8-10p average with regular programming last Fall, gaining +18% among Adults 18-49 (3.9/9 vs. 3.3/8), +18% among Adults 18-34 (4.7/13 vs. 4.0/11) and +11% in Total Viewers (7.8 vs. 7.0 Mil.).

THE SIMPSONS posted a 3.2/8 among Adults 18-49 and in the 8p half hour ranked No. 2 among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 and No. 1 in Teens and Women 18-34.  So far this season THE SIMPSONS has improved upon its Fall’08 average among Adults 18-49 (+5%), Adults 18-34 (+5%) and in Total Viewers (+4%). Without an NFL lead-in THE SIMPSONS was down -20% compared to its prior season average in Adults 18-49 (3.2/8 vs. 4.0/10).

At 8:30p THE CLEVELAND SHOW posted a 3.0/7 among Adults 18-49.  So far this season THE CLEVELAND SHOW has outperformed last year’s King Of The Hill Fall average by +27% among Adults 18-49, +31% among Adults 18-34 and +20% in Total Viewers. Last night’s THE CLEVELAND SHOW was down -23% among Adults 18-49 compared to its prior season average (3.9/9).

At 9p FAMILY GUY delivered a 3.8/9 among Adults 18-49.  For the 09/10 season FAMILY GUY has outperformed its Fall’08 average by +16% among Adults 18-49, +15% among Adults 18-34 and +12% in Total Viewers. FAMILY GUY was down -12% compared to last week in Adults 18-49 (3.8/9 vs. 4.3/10).
AMERICAN DAD at 9:30p posted a 3.1/7 among Adults 18-49 and so far this season has outperformed last year’s Fall delivery by +10% among Adults 18-49, +8% among Adults 18-34 and +8% in Total Viewers. Last night’s AMERICAN DAD is even with its prior season average.

At 7p and 7:30p two episodes of BROTHERS were inflated by NFL coverage in some markets and both posted a 1.1/3 among Adults 18-49.

ABC’s America’s Funniest Home Videos (2.1/6) and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (3.1/8) were both on par.  At 10p, Oprah Winfrey’s Christmas At The Whitehouse delivered a 2.8/7.

Due to an NFL overrun until 7:21p, Fast Nationals for CBS are approximate.  60 Minutes and the beginning of the Mentalist posted a 3.1/9 from 7:30-8:30p.  The Mentalist repeat continued (along with the opening of a Cold Case original) to deliver a 1.9/5 from 8:30-9:30p.  Cold Case combined with a repeat Criminal Minds for a 2.1/6 at 9:30-10:30p and that Criminal Minds repeat was a 2.0/5 in the 10:30p half hour.

Due to the nature of live sports, Fast Nationals for NBC are approximate. In addition, note that NBC’s 7p NFL Pre-Game will be sustained by Nielsen.  Following Football Night In America at 7p (2.3/7), 730p (3.6/10) and 8p (5.0/13), NBC’s Sunday Night Football Game 14: Eagles vs. Giants delivered a 7.0/17 from 830-11p, on par with last week’s Game 13 (Vikings vs. Cardinals) which posted a 6.8/16 in the Fast Nationals before rising to a 7.8/19 from 8:31-11:16p in the Finals.
