Fox: The Mindy Project up 12%

FOXFOX’s Tuesday comedy block remained steady from 8-9:30pm and saw strong growth for THE MINDY PROJECT at 9:30pm last night:


·         RAISING HOPE: 1.6/5, down one-tenth from last week in Adults 18-49 but up +5% in Total Viewers (4.0 vs. 3.8 Mil)

·         RAISING HOPE (S): 1.5/4

·         NEW GIRL: 2.5/7, even with last week’s fast nationals and up +2% from last week’s final Total Viewers (4.8 vs. 4.7 Mil)

o    NEW GIRL was the highest-rated program of the night in Adults 18-34

·         THE MINDY PROJECT: 1.9/5, up +12% from last week in Adults 18-49, up +18% in Adults 18-34 (2.0/6 vs. 1.7/5) and up +13% in Total Viewers (3.6 vs. 3.2 Mil)

o    Last night marks the show’s highest Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 ratings in four months (both since 10/9/12)

o    It was also THE MINDY PROJECT’s most-watched episode since its second telecast (on 10/2/12)

o    In fact, THE MINDY PROJECT grew in Total Viewers for the third consecutive week (2.8 Mil on 1/15/13 > 3.0 Mil > 3.2 Mil > 3.6 Mil)

Competition

ABC’s The Taste (1.8/5) was up +13% versus last week (1.6/4). From 9-11pm, a special Tuesday telecast of The Bachelor (2.6/7) was up +8% from its performance on Monday (2.4/6).

CBS’ NCIS (3.7/10, up +3%) and NCIS: LA (3.1/8, flat) were in line with last week’s ratings, while Vegas (1.6/4) dropped -16% week-over-week.

On NBC, Betty White’s 2nd Annual 90th Birthday Special (1.5/4) was down -44% from its inaugural telecast last year (2.7/7 on 1/16/12). From 9-11pm, the two-hour premiere of Smash (1.1/3) delivered the show’s lowest rating ever, posting the largest year-to-year decline for any sophomore show debut this season. Smash was down -71% from its premiere last winter (3.8/10 on Mon. 2/6/12) and -39% from its finale last spring (1.8/5 on Mon 5/14/12).
