Fox Thursday takes winner's crown w/ 'American Idol'

FOX won the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Teens and key demos and outperformed the next highest rated net for the night by +66% in Adults 18-49 (4.8 vs. CBS’ 2.9) and +29% in Total Viewers (16.0 vs. CBS’ 12.4 Mil.) 


Last night’s AMERICAN IDOL dramatic results show posted a 6.1/10 among Adults 18-49 and retained 90% of last Thursday’s Results show in Adults 18-49 (6.1 vs. 6.8) and 91% in Total Viewers (20.6 vs. 22.6 Mil). AMERICAN IDOL retained 91% of the comparable telecast last year in A18-49 (6.1 vs. 6.7 on 4/7/10) and was up +2% in Total Viewers (20.6 vs. 20.2 Mil.)

AMERICAN IDOL was the highest-rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens and outperformed the combined 4-net competition in the 8p hour by +2% in Total Viewers (20.6 vs. 20.1 Mil.)  and outperformed the next highest-rated program of the night by +69% in Adults 18-49 (6.1 vs. 3.6 for The Big Bang Theory) and +40% in Total Viewers (20.6 vs. 14.7 Mil for The Mentalist.)
 
In the 8p hour AMERICAN IDOL outperformed the next highest rated net by +97% in Adults 18-49 (6.1 vs. 3.1 for CBS) and +108% in Total Viewers (20.6 vs. 9.9 for CBS).

AMERICAN IDOL showed strong growth in the hour, gaining +18% in its last half hour vs. its first in A18-49 (6.6 vs. 5.6) and +17% in Total Viewers (22.3 vs. 19.0 Mil.) So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings AMERICAN IDOL retained 93% of last year’s same telecasts in A18-49 (8.6/23 vs. 9.2/24, through Top 9 Results, 4/7/10) and 100% in Total Viewers (25.0 vs. 24.9 Mil.)

BONES posted a 3.4/9 among Adults 18-49, up +3% from last week (3.3/10), though with two minutes of AMERICAN IDOL in this Fast National rating, BONES will go down in the finals.  BONES won the 9p hour among A18-49, A18-34, Teens and key demos.  BONES was the second highest rated program of the night in A18-34 and Teens behind only AMERICAN IDOL.

Competition
ABC ran repeats of Wipeout (1.6/5), Grey’s Anatomy (1.3/4), and Private Practice (0.8/2).

On CBS, The Big Bang Theory (3.6/12) delivered its lowest rating in nearly two years (since Mon. 5/4/09), down -14% from its prior season average (4.2/13).  Rules of Engagement (2.5/8), CSI (2.8/8) and The Mentalist (2.9/8) finished the night.
 
NBC aired a repeat Community (0.8/3), an original Perfect Couples (1.0/3, tied for series low), repeats of The Office (1.7/5), Parks and Recreation (1.4/4) and 30 Rock (1.3/3) and an original Outsourced (1.3/4, series low) at 1030p.
