FOXWith Week 2 of AMERICAN IDOL Season 12 auditions, FOX won last night across every single demographic and outperformed the next highest-rated network by +125% in Adults 18-49 (5.4 vs. 2.4 for both ABC and CBS) and +60% in Total Viewers (16.0 vs. 10.0 Mil for CBS).


In addition, FOX out-rated the combined 3-net competition by +27% in Adults 18-34 (4.7 vs. 3.7 for ABC/CBS/NBC) last night.

·         AMERICAN IDOL: 5.4/15, retaining 90% of its premiere rating in Adults 18-49, 90% of its Total Viewers audience (16.0 vs. 17.8 Mil) and 96% of its Adults 18-34 rating (4.7/15 vs. 4.9/15) versus its Fast Nationals last Wednesday.

o    Through its first three telecasts, AMERICAN IDOL is outperforming The Voice’s first three telecasts this season by +30% (5.7 vs 4.4) in Adults 18-49 and 33% in Total Viewers (16.7 Mil. vs 12.6 Mil.).

o    IDOL out-rated the #2 show last night by +32% in Adults 18-49 (vs Modern Family) and +37% in Total Viewers (vs. Criminal Minds)

o    In fact, last night’s year-over-year retention of 84% was significantly higher than its year-over-year retention last season on the same night (71%)

FOX has now posted the three highest-rated entertainment nights of the season so far on any network among Adults 18-49.

Competition

ABC’s The Middle (2.5/7, up +9%) and The Neighbors (1.9/5, up +6%) were both up from last week. At 9pm, Modern Family (4.1/11) posted a new season low, down -5% from last week (4.3/11). Suburgatory (2.3/6) was flat, while Nashville (1.8/5) fell -18% week-to-week (vs. 2.2/6).

Following a repeat Criminal Minds at 8pm (1.5/4), an original of CBS’ Criminal Minds (3.0/8) was in line with its performance last week (up +3%). At 10pm, CSI (2.7/7) was up +17% versus last week (2.3/6).

NBC began the night with repeat comedies Whitney (0.8/2) and Guys with Kids (0.8/2), before shifting to repeat dramas with Law & Order: SVU (0.7/2) and Chicago Fire (0.8/2).
