Fox's 2-hour 'American Idol' takes Wednesday

Airing the two-hour AMERICAN IDOL Top 13 Performance Show, FOX won last night across the board and outperformed the combined 4-net competition for the night by +36% among Adults 18-49 and +21% in Total Viewers. 


In addition, FOX beat the next highest rated network (CBS) last night by +233% among Adults 18-49 and +157% in Total Viewers.

AMERICAN IDOL:  8.0/22, up +3% in the demo and up +6% in Total Viewers (24.2 vs. 22.8 Mil.) from last Wednesday’s performance show  
 
Versus the comparable telecast last year among Adults 18-49 (8.1/22, Top 12 on 3/16/10), last night’s IDOL retained 99% of its Adults 18-49 audience, was up +6% in Total Viewers and gained +4% in Teens.           

AMERICAN IDOL was the highest rated program of the night in all key demos and outperformed the next highest rated program of the night by +150% in A18-49 (8.0 vs. Survivor’s 3.2) and +122% in Total Viewers (24.2 vs. Survivor’s, 10.9 Mil.)               

So far this season with Comparable Most Current ratings, AMERICAN IDOL is retaining 95% of the audience it drew at the same point in the competition last year among Adult 18-49 audience (8.7/23 vs. 9.2/24) and 100% in Total Viewers (24.7 vs. 24.8 Mil.).***   

Competition

Following repeats of The Middle (1.4/4 & 1.4/4) and Modern Family (2.3/6), ABC’s new series Mr. Sunshine (1.8/5) and Off the Map (1.4/4) posted their lowest ratings to date, dropping -25% and -18%, respectively, from last week’s telecasts.

On CBS, Survivor: Redemption Island (3.2/9) was down -3% from last week and through four weeks remains off to the franchise’s lowest rated start ever.  Following a Criminal Minds repeat (1.8/5), new series Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior dropped to its lowest rating yet (2.2/6), down -15% from last week’s delivery.

NBC aired Minute to Win It (1.0/3, tied as lowest ever) and back-to-back repeats of Law & Order: SVU at 9p (0.9/2) and 10p (1.4/4).
