FOX’s ‘American Idol’ #1 Tuesday, holds 96% of audience

The top 10 boys competed on AMERICAN IDOL, posting an 8.6/22 among Adults 18-49. Compared to last week’s performance on Tuesday, AMERICAN IDOL held 96% of its audience among Adults 18-49, 93% among Adults 18-34 and 97% in Total Viewers. In fact, AMERICAN IDOL grew week over week by +2% among Teens.


AMERICAN IDOL also retained 95% of the equivalent episode last year on Wednesday 2/25/09 among Adults 18-49 (8.6/22 vs. 9.1/23), 97% among Adults 18-34 (7.1/20 vs. 7.3/21) and 95% in Total Viewers (23.4 vs. 24.6 Mil.)  AMERICAN IDOL showed gains of +9% among Teens (6.0/19 vs. 5.5/18).

So far this season, AMERICAN IDOL’s average is on par with the same weeks last year with Most Current ratings vs. comparable Most Current, showing 95% retention among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, 99% among Teens and 96% in Total Viewers.

Competition
Following an 8p Lost repeat (1.6/4), week five of ABC’s Lost (4.0/10) delivered its lowest original rating of the season, down -13% from last week and -20% from its prior average (5.0/12). At 10p, the ABC News special 20/20: Before They Were Famous delivered a 1.8/5.

On CBS, NCIS (4.1/11) matched its lowest episode of the season at 8p while NCIS: LA (3.1/8) dropped -24% week over week and -18% from its original average at 9p (3.8/10).

The Good Wife posted a 2.7/8 at 10p, down -13% from the previous week.

NBC’s The Biggest Loser (3.1/8) tied its lowest original of the year (excluding specials), down -11% from last week and -18% from its prior average this spring (3.8/10).  At 10p, the premiere of new drama Parenthood posted a 3.1/9.
