Fox’s duo of ‘Bones’ – ‘Fringe’ return strong #1 in teens

Last night, 01/14/10, BONES and FRINGE returned strong, giving FOX a No. 2 finish for the night among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34 and a No. 1 finish among Teens, Men 18-49 and Men 18-34.


BONES:
BONES posted a 3.3/10 among Adults 18-49, its highest Thursday rating ever and its highest on any night of the week in over a year (since Wed., 11/12/08).  BONES also delivered its highest rating among Adults 18-34 in one year (since 1/22/09).
Last night’s BONES won its 8p hour among Adults 18-49, Total Viewers, Adults 18-34/25-54, Teens and all key demos.
Compared to its prior season average BONES showed significant increases of +27% among Adults 18-49 (3.3/10 vs. 2.6/8). +23% among Adults 18-34 (2.7/9 vs. 2.2/7) and +16% in Total Viewers (10.7 vs. 9.2 Mil.)

FRINGE:
At 9p FRINGE delivered a 2.6/7 among Adults 18-49, up +13% from its last Thursday original telecast on 12/1/09. 
FRINGE made significant gains vs. its prior season average, including +24% among Adults 18-49 (2.6/7 vs. 2.1/5), +31% among Adults 18-34 (2.1/6 vs. 1.6/5) and +18% in Total Viewers (6.6 vs. 5.6 Mil.)
In addition, last night’s FRINGE tied its highest rating of the season among Adults 18-34.

So far this season FOX’s regular Thursday programming outperforms last year’s regular Thursday programming for the same weeks, increasing +33% among Adults 18-49 (2.4/7 vs. 1.8/5) and +83% in Total Viewers (7.5 vs. 4.1 Mil.)

Competition
Following the 8p ABC News special Earthquake Haiti: Race To Save A Country (1.4/4), Grey’s Anatomy (4.7/12) delivered its lowest original rating ever, falling -8% from its last original telecast and -16% from its season average with first-run episodes (5.6/14).  A special Grey’s-crossover episode of Private Practice (4.2/12) was high.

On CBS, a special repeat of The Mentalist (1.9/6) was followed by the lowest original CSI ever (3.3/9), down -6% from its last original telecast and -11% from its 2009/10 first-run average (3.7/10).  At 10p, The Mentalist (3.4/9) was also low.

NBC comedies Community (2.3/7) and Parks & Recreation (2.1/6) were both on par while back-to-back episodes of 30 Rock (2.3/6 at 9p and 930p) delivered the program’s lowest original rating of the season, down -23% from its prior first-run average (3.0/8).  The Jay Leno Show (1.3/4) delivered its lowest Thursday rating of the season, down -7% from last Thursday and down -24% from its average on the night (1.7/5).
