Fred Foy 'Lone Ranger' announcer, dies at 89

“Hi-Yo, Silver! A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust and a hearty Hi-Yo, Silver.” was heard first on the radio and later on television the voice was that of Fred Foy.


Foy at 89 died on Wednesday in Woburn, MA, the death, of natural causes.

Mr Foy was not the first voice announcer but he was the last and the best known for the Hi-Yo Silver!
 
Foy’s radio career also included announcer for “The Green Hornet” and “Sergeant Preston of the Yukon.” In TV Foy was staff announcer for ABC where his voice duties included “The Dick Cavett Show.”
