Year to Year “World News” Grew 7%,More Growth Than Any Other Evening Newscast

 For the Week “World News” Is Up 600,000 Among Total Viewers Compared to Its Season-to-Date Average

For the week of December 28th, “ABC World News with Diane Sawyer” averaged 8.69 million Total Viewers and a 1.9/6 among Adults 25-54. “World News” increased its audience by 130,000 Total Viewers and 80,000 Adults 25-54 week to week. Year to year “World News” grew 7% among Total Viewers and was the only evening newscast to display growth compared to a year ago.

For the week, “World News” was up 600,000 (+7%) among Total Viewers and 60,000 (+3%) among Adults 25-54 compared to its season-to-date average.

Last week’s “World News” featured comprehensive reporting on the attempted attack on Northwest Flight 253, including the exclusive images of the bomb that was smuggled onto the flight.

Please note: Diane Sawyer anchored “World News” Monday and Tuesday; David Muir anchored on Wednesday and Thursday. The ABC broadcast is based on a three-day average (Monday-Wednesday); ratings on Thursday were excluded due to New Year’s Eve and the broadcast was preempted on Friday for the Rose Bowl. NBC’s “Nightly News” and CBS’ “Evening News” are based on a four-day average, Monday-Wednesday and Friday.
