"Friday Night Lights" #1 for the night leads NBC to winners circle

At 8 p.m. ET, “Friday Night Lights” (1.0/4 in 18-49, 3.5 million viewers overall) finished #1 in the time period among the major networks in adults 18-49, giving the critically acclaimed drama a sixth straight week ranking #1 or tied for #1 in the Friday 8-9 p.m. hour. 


In the time period, this week’s “Friday Night Lights” ranked #1 or tied for #1 among the major network in every key ratings category — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, as well as total viewers, pending updates.

From 9-11 p.m. ET, an encore telecast of “Dateline NBC” (1.2/5 in adults 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall) won the time period in every key demographic — adults, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 — against mostly original programming on the other major networks.  Week to week, “Dateline” is up 9 percent in 18-49 rating (1.2 vs. 1.1) and 13 percent in total viewers (4.8 million vs. 4.3 million).  From its first half-hour to its fourth, “Dateline” increased its 18-49 rating by 18 percent (to a 1.3 from  a 1.1) and its overall viewership by 22 percent (to 5.1 million from 4.2 million).

In the 10:30 lead-in to local news, the “Dateline NBC” encore reported a 20 percent margin of victory in the key news demo of adults 25-54 (with a 1.8 rating vs. a 1.5 for CBS’s second-place “Miami Medical” original).  “Dateline” was #1 or tied for #1 in the 10:30 half-hour in every key ratings demo.

NBC is #1 for the night in adults 18-49 and has been #1 or tied for #1 for five of the last six Friday nights.  NBC also ranked #1 or tied for #1 this week in every other key demographic.  NBC won all six of the night’s six half-hours in 18-49.
