Fuel TV launches Android app

FUEL TV, dedicated to the lifestyle of action sports, has launched an interactive, media rich Android app. The app is available for free download through the Android Market. The content is syndicated from the www.fuel.tv website and includes nine video channels, live-event streaming and the ability to filter news by sport. There’s also a community photo blog, FUEL TV show info, news updates, and schedules; and all of it can be seamlessly shared via a Twitter button. The app also includes ringtones and wallpapers available for free download.

The app offers a community photo blog that allows users to upload their own pictures from their phone. The photos can also be shared on the website and can be geo-tagged so users will see where the photos were posted geographically. The app will also let users opt-in to get message updates regarding live events, blog updates, breaking news, and new shows.

“We’re excited to launch this new app for Android handheld devices,” says Patrick Perez, FUEL TV Director of New Media. “Like the FUEL TV iPhone app, Android users will have access to news, video, blogs and live events directly from FUEL TV. However, the Android app has a few features that the iPhone app doesn’t currently have, such as a news filter by sport, wallpapers and ringtones. This app a must-have for any action sport fan.”

Between the iPhone and Android, more than 15 million users now have access to FUEL TV content through their handheld mobile devices.

The app is now available for free from the Android Market and works on more than a dozen different Android devices on the market, including several from Verizon Wireless alone.
