Friends of Stu Olds, in conjunction with The Broadcasters Foundation of America, have announced the Stu Olds Memorial Golf Classic to celebrate the life and career of the beloved and respected former head of Katz Media Group. Olds passed away last December at age 60.

The golf outing will take place at Olds’s home club, Knollwood Country Club in Elmsford, New York, on June 14, 2011. Don Bouloukos, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS Radio, New York, and Mark Gray, President, Katz Radio Group, will co-chair the event.

The entry fee is set at only $200 per player to allow everyone who wants to play the opportunity to do so. Proceeds will go directly to the Stu Olds Memorial Fund, which already has generated more than $480,000 to benefit the mission of the Broadcasters Foundation of America.  Olds was a staunch supporter of the Foundation and served on the Board of Directors as Vice Chairman.

“This day is about celebrating our good friend and colleague with the sport that he loved,” noted Gray.  “Stu brought warmth and a smile everywhere he went, from the boardroom to the golf course.”

“In tribute to Stu’s great personality and loyalty to friends, we want to present a day of fun and camaraderie that also supports the mission of the Broadcasters Foundation,” Bouloukos added.

The Stu Olds Memorial Golf Classic begins with a buffet lunch at 11: 30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1:00 p.m.  The festivities conclude with a cocktail reception that includes hors d’oeuvres and a presentation of the golf awards.  Reservations can be made now by contacting Jim Thompson at the Broadcasters Foundation, 212-373-8250 or [email protected].

The Broadcasters Foundation has provided millions of dollars in aid to colleagues who lost their livelihood through a catastrophic event, debilitating disease, or unforeseen family tragedy.
