GEICO: The Spot Cable King

For the week ending Dec. 15, one brand sticks out for the number of spots played on the cable networks tracked by iHeartMedia-owned Media Monitors.

To little surprise, it is an auto insurance specialist that remains one of the biggest users of broadcast media to reach consumers.

That would be GEICO, as shown below. The brand dominates by play count, with some 74,788 spots detected.

The lone competitor in the Spot Ten Cable report for GEICO is Liberty Mutual Insurance, using its 1970s-esque “Limu Imu & Doug” campaign in an apparent attempt to attract Twentysomething men with a juvenile sense of humor.

At No. 2 is JCPenney, with some 62,769 spots.

Walmart comes in at No. 3.
