Genachowski showered with good will

What did FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski have to do to make a good impression at yesterday’s Commerce Committee hearing on children’s television? Basically, show up and take his seat. Chairman Jay Rockefeller could not say enough times how thrilled he was that Genachowski is now Chairman of the FCC. He said at one point that he was ready to completely tear down the FCC and start over, but he no longer feels that is necessary.

RBR/TVBR observation: Come to think of it, Michael Copps enjoyed rock star status on the Hill from time to time, particularly after his efforts to finish off the DTV transition. What this really shows, however, is how important the identity of the resident at that big white house on Pennsylvania Ave. is to determining the overall character of the FCC at any given moment.
