Gene Converse dead at 70

Best known for his years as morning man at WXCO-AM Wausau, WI, Gene Converse has died in Lake Alfred, FL. He was 70.


Converse died of heart failure on September 13th, but his death has only recently been reported by the Wausau Daily Herald. A native of Albert Lea, MN, Converse began his radio career in Minnesota but hit his stride as morning host at WXCO, then a Country station, from 1973 to 1987.
