Gingrich, Santorum out at Fox News

The moratorium on commentary from Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum at Fox News Channel has been made permanent. The reason, of course, is that both are actively pursuing the right to represent the Republican Party in the 2012 presidential race. Santorum went so far as to appear in the South Carolina Republican Primary debate hosted by Fox 5/5/11.

The twosome was barred from appearing on the cable news outlet a couple of months ago and told them way back on to the air was to officially notify the network that they were not in fact running for president. Neither did that by the May 1 deadline, and FNC took the action prior to airing the aforementioned debate.

That leaves three other people who appear on FNC who are also mentioned often or occasionally as potential presidential candidates: Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin and John Bolton.

Of the three, Huckabee has been the most ambiguous as to his intentions when asked. Some reports say that Fox has given him a deadline to state his intentions, but according to at least one report, Huckabee’s people have denied that there is any specific date.
