'GLEE’ shows growth in tough Wednesday competition

Airing against tough competition for its core young women demos from the CMA Awards last night on ABC, the first SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE results show posted a 2.1/6 among Adults 18-49, down -9% from its performance show on Tuesday (2.3/6 on 11/10/09).


After a two week hiatus for baseball, GLEE at 9p returned with a 3.3/8 among Adults 18-49, identical to its most recent telecast (3.3/8 on 10/21/09) and its prior season average in Adults 18-49 (3.3/9). 

In addition, GLEE grew among Adults 18-34 (+6%, 3.8/11 vs. 3.6/10) and in Total Viewers (7.3 vs. 7.2 Mil.) versus its last telecast.

So far this season GLEE shows strong growth compared to FOX’s regular Fall’08 average in the Wednesday 9p hour, increasing +83% among Adults 18-49, +125% among Adults 18-34, +82% among Teens and +47% in Total Viewers.

Competition
ABC’s 43rd annual Country Music Association Awards posted a 5.2/14 from 8-11p, up slightly from last year’s show (5.0/13 on 11/12/08).

On CBS, The New Adventures Of Old Christine (2.2/6) and Gary Unmarried (2.5/6) saw gains without sitcom competition while Criminal Minds (3.3/8) delivered its lowest first-run telecast of the season, down -13% from its 2009/10 original average (3.8/10). 

Part two of the CSI crossover saw a +32% increase for CSI: NY (3.7/10) versus its performance against the World Series last week. 

NBC’s Mercy (1.8/5), Law & Order: SVU (2.8/7) and The Jay Leno Show (1.4/4) were all in line with their recent performances.
