Grupo Latino de Radio announced the beginning of its exclusive Spanish Language radio coverage of Copa Santander Libertadores. 40 teams participate in this 51st edition of the tournament. Among those, this year for the first time, five Mexican teams – Monarcas, Monterrey, Estudiantes Tecos, Chivas de Guadalajara and San Luis – battle for the title.

The live action starts on 1/27 when the Peruvian team Juan Aurich plays against the Mexican Estudiantes Tecos. Starting that day until the final game in August, these soccer matches will be distributed exclusively by GLR Networks to its affiliated radio stations.

In making the announcement, Jimmy Perez, Programming Director for GLR Networks, stated, “For the first time ever, there will be five Mexican teams competing, what makes Mexico the most represented country in the tournament. This will make this already attractive competition even more interesting for many of our affiliated stations with a strong Mexican origin listener base as well as for our advertisers”.

Highlights of Copa Santander Libertadores will also be provided to GLR’s affiliated stations in the syndicated Sports program “Minuto Deportivo” – A quick and energetic overview of the day’s sporting events that bring listeners results, highlights, information about upcoming matches, and the latest news on Sports.
