GolTV, the nation’s only independent bilingual channel delivering international fútbol, will kick off “Soccer Aces,” the first international reality TV series dedicated to soccer on Tuesday, 4/27 at 8 p.m. ET. Soccer Aces follows 17 amateur hopefuls as they compete in a grueling six-week-long training camp in Madrid, Spain. The winner of Soccer Aces earns a once-in-a-lifetime chance to play preseason for a club in Spain’s prestigious La Liga.

“We searched around the globe for the strongest and most passionate up-and-coming soccer stars and now we are giving them this one chance to make their ultimate dream come true. Because soccer has the strongest international fan base, this show is sure to launch the career of our ‘Ace’ and make him a star,” said Enzo Francescoli, one of the series’ judges and the founder & CEO of GolTV. “Soccer Aces will expose the hard work and dedication necessary to play in the best league in the world, and our cameras will capture every moment of glory and heartbreak.”

While attending the Soccer Aces training academy, the finalists are trained by leading soccer coaches and live under the public eye with video cameras capturing their every move. The contestants are judged by Francescoli, named one of FIFA’s 100 best soccer players of all time, and fellow soccer legend Zinedine Zidane. The show will also feature special guest judges and coaches each week, including some of the world’s top professional soccer stars.

The selection process included a series of tryouts held across North and South America, as well as in China and Spain. Those selected from each event then traveled to Madrid, Spain for a final round of casting. Ljubomir Kocia, a Serbian-American living in San Antonio, Texas, and Cristian Andres Cruz from Richmond, Texas, were selected from the tryouts in Houston and represented the U.S. in Madrid.
