The Italian government bond auction went well, the report on new jobless claims was OK and then there was a surprising jump in pending new home sales, so the news was pretty good on Thursday as far as Wall Street was concerned. With only one trading day to go in 2011, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 136 points, or 1.1%, to 12,287. Broadcasting stocks also had a good day.
The RBR Radio Index was up 2.001, or 0.7%, to 298.737.
The TVBR Television Index was up 2.324, or 1%, to 237.768.
