Gossip is good for CW

Good ratings news has been rare for The CW of late, so the network is crowing loudly about the second season premiere of “Gossip Girl” on Labor Day, Monday, September 1. The series posted its highest ratings ever in adults 18-34 (2.3/7), women 18-34 (3.2/10), adults 18-49 (1.7/5) and women 18-49 (2.3/6), based on the Nielsen overnights. The total audience of 3.4 million was Gossip Girl’s second best ever, slightly behind the season premiere last year.


Along with the season six debut of “One Tree Hill,” Gossip Girl helped deliver the best Monday ever for The CW in adults 18-34 (2.3/7), women 18-34 (3.3/9), women 18-49 (2.3/6).
