Gray Skies On Wall Street: Howell To Close NYSE


To honor Gray Television on completing its merger with Raycom Media, NYSE is rewarding Chairman/CEO Hilton Howell Jr. by letting him officially close the trading week on one of the world’s most important financial exchanges.

Howell will ring the Closing Bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Friday (1/11) to commemorate the absorption of Raycom by Gray.

“Several members” of the Gray’s executive management team will join Howell on the
podium. That includes co-CEO Pat LaPlatney, the former head of Raycom, and Paul McTear, Sandy Breland, Becky Sheffield, and Ellenann Yelverton from Raycom.

From Gray are EVP/Chief Legal and Development Officer Kevin Latek, and Becky Meyer, Jan Goldstein, Jay Cowart, Vance Luke, Rob Folliard, and Rick Burns.

“We are honored to have this opportunity to ring the Closing Bell,” said Howell. “Gray moved to the NYSE in 1995 as a small, regional broadcaster. On the heels of our recent acquisition of Raycom, Gray is now the third-largest owner of network affiliated local
television stations in the country. In fact, Gray now owns the first or second highest rated
television station in 85 of our 91 markets, which include local communities from Alaska and
Hawaii to Maine and Florida.”
