A new AM talker planned in Great Falls, MT already is getting some big pushback from Cascade County, MT officials, who say the owners, Community Communications LLC, should have talked to them before erecting a 164-foot-tall tower. The CP is for Class C on 1490 kHz with 1 kw-D, 580 w-N, NC. KEIN (1310 AM) is the sister station there with Community Communications and has an Adult Standards/MOR format.
Commercial radio towers are not allowed where the tower is located, because the area is zoned suburban residential, Carry Ann Shannon, a deputy county attorney, told The Great falls Tribune.
The County says the tower, which went up last month, either needs to be moved or Community Communication LLC needs to request the land be rezoned to agricultural, where towers are allowed with a permit, Shannon said.
The county issued a cease-and-desist order 12/14. But by that time the tower was up.
