Grissom goodbye draws big numbers

It wasn’t on the scale of the last episode of “M*A*S*H” in 1983 (125 million viewers) but William Petersen’s final appearance as “Gil Grissom” on “CSI” was a ratings hog for CBS. The network reports that Nielsen estimated 24.25 million people watch the episode, the biggest audience for the hit series since the season eight premiere in September 2007. As a result, CBS won every half hour of primetime on Thursday evening, with a one-hour CSI special preceeding the episode and “Eleventh Hour” following. For those who missed it, Grissom’s farewell will be rebroadcast this Thursday.
