Buckley Broadcasting is spinning off one of its Joaquin Valley FM stations, and the beneficiary will be Momentum Broadcasting LP, headed by Managing General Partner Don Groppetti. Momentum is adding Buckley’s KIOO-FM to its existing three-station cluster in the Visalia CA market.

Visalia is to the southeast of Fresno, and although some stations are able to serve both markets to varying degrees, the Momentum foursome will strictly be oriented to Visalia and its surrounding communities.

The deal was brokered by Dick Forman. Terms were not revealed.

KIOO-FM is a Classic Rocker licensed to Porterville CA, a Class B on 99.7 MHz with 24 kW @ 689’.
It will be joining up with:

* Country KJUG-FM Tulare CA, a Class B on 106.7 MHz with 1.2 kW @ 2,552’.
* Classic Country KJUG-AM Tulare CA, a Class B on 1270 kHz with 5 kW-D, 1 kW-N, DAN.
* Non-Stop Hits KCRZ-FM Tipton CA, a Class A on 104.9 MHz with 2.3 kW @ 528’.

According to Foreman, Buckley retains KSEQ-FM, also licensed to Visalia, along with 10 other California radio properties.

Buckey EVP Kathy Baker noted that the deal had beneficial strategic elements for both parties.
