Hard work rewarded: A radio transaction story

1

DealKBEL AM & FM are headed from Box Broadcasting Corporation to Brute Force Radio LLC for the nominal price of $1.00. But the real value of this transaction is the backstory.

The stations are licensed to Idabel OK, a community to the northwest of Texaskana.

KBEL-AM is a Class C on 1240 kHz with 1 kW-U and KBEL-FM is a Class C3 with 25 kW @ 299’.
Brute Force is headed by Rod Leichti, and Box by Paul W. Box.

Here is how Box described the transaction on the application for transfer:

After much consideration and thought, due to my overall health and well being and other family issues, I request that the Commission concur and approve my wishes.

Having devoted fifty years to radio broadcasting, I have from time to time met and had the blessing of working with exceptional individuals. During the last five years I have come to know and to love and respect Rod Leichti for being a most outstanding person in and out of the radio business. In my opinion he is a brother to me and as I consider him family. He is an integral part of the community as this is his home town. His family is known and respected and he lives an exemplary life in the eyes of his fellow men and women. Over time he has never failed to perform any and all of his duties and always exceeds expectations in operating the radio stations and helping area citizens.

I request that the licenses and all rights and privileges of ownership be transferred to Brute Force Radio LLC, Rod Liechti, Manager, as gratis without cost as a gift.

Your kind attention is always appreciated. I thank you for your service to the broadcasters and citizens of the United States.
Paul W. Box.
