House Judiciary tees up Comcast/NBCU

The proposed merger between cable/internet giant Comcast and entertainment giant NBC Universal has already had two airings on Capitol Hill, one in a Senate Judiciary subcommittee and one in a House Commerce subcommittee. Now it looks like it’s the House Judiciary’s turn.

Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) has teed up a session entitled “Competition in the Media and Entertainment Distribution Market” which is expected to center on the merger. It is on the calendar for Thursday 2/25/10 at 10AM. Conyers will invite his full committee to participate in the proceeding.

RBR-TVBR observation: No word on witnesses as of yet, but it would be surprising if Comcast’s Brian Roberts and NBCU’s Jeff Zucker are not on the witness list. That leaves only the Senate Commerce Committee left on the list of four most likely to hold a Comcast/NBCU hearing.
