How low can you go?

Here are a couple of deals on the low end of the market-value spectrum, both of which involve the non-profit sector of Georgia. WROM-AM Rome GA is being donated by for-profit LGV Broadcasting to non-commercial Joy Christian Communications “after suffering tremendous financial hardship due to the recession of 2007 and 2008.” The other involves two non-coms; Athens Christian Radio will receive an FM translator from Edgewater Broadcasting Inc. in exchange for its FM CP earmarked for Vidalia GA. The DIY project will be a Class C3 on 90.3 MHz with 18 kw @ 282’.

RBR/TVBR observation: The latter deal involves no cash; it may well involve the receiver’s greater access to capital and ability to get the station built. In the former case, the donating party appears happy to simply stop the bleeding of capital. Welcome to station trading in late 2008.
