This Error Cost A Big-Market TV Station Its ‘Must Carry’

Here’s a simple lesson learned from not following directions.


In a letter sent to DISH Network dated Sept. 27, 2017, a San Francisco-based noncommercial TV station elected mandatory coverage for the cycle that began Jan. 1, 2018 and ends on Dec. 31, 2020.

There’s just one problem: The letter was not sent to DISH the required way. As a result, its election was rejected. Can this station appeal? We now know the answer.
