Combating Internet-Delivered Misinformation: Hispanic Radio’s Untapped Power

1

MIAMI — “There is no doubt that there are tremendous resources being poured in to misinformation.” With different entities with varying agendas behind their activities, the NAB has bulked up its armory and is committed to fighting back against social media, internet search engine and any online source that serves as an unwelcome disruptor to local journalism.

But, it isn’t just the reporter and photographer covering news that the NAB is working hard to protect. Local radio is very much under attack from these undesirable fact-twisting sources. AMs and FMs can fight back. In fact, if Hispanic radio were to take up the fight, the firepower would be that much stronger, NAB President/CEO Curtis LeGeyt believes.

He made the comments as part of a Hispanic Radio Conference address on Wednesday.
