SoldZoe Communications has signed a letter of intent to acquire WIXK-AM New Richmond WI. The station, which serves the area east of the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, will pair up with WDMO-FM Baldwin WI.

Hubbard’s Ginny Morris said that her company has enjoyed serving the people of westernWisconsinin the WIXK coverage area, which is referred to as theSt. Croix RiverValley. However, the station was becoming less of a fit with the company’s larger market profile since its acquisition of much of the old Bonneville radio group.

Buyer Zoe Communications is a good fit for the AM, which will pair up with its relatively new FM station.

“This is a big day for Zoe Communications,” said Mike Oberg, President and Owner of Zoe Communications.  “We recently signed-on WDMO at 95.7FM so we believe this will be great AM/FM combo for New Richmond and theSt. Croix RiverValley.   We have great respect for the strong heritage of WIXK and are excited to bring a new FM back to New Richmond.  It is a win-win for both companies.  We areWisconsinbroadcasters and WIXK-AM strengthens ourWestern Wisconsinportfolio.  At the same time Hubbard Broadcasting can focus on their core radio business, which is located in large markets.”

WIXK is a Class D on 1590 kHz with 5 kW-D, 95 W-N, ND.

WDMO is a Class A on 95.7 MHz with 4 kW @ 407’.

Both stations throw primary contours close but not in to Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Terms of the deal were not announced. An LMA is set to being8/13/12.
