Idol rules another Thursday

The AMERICAN IDOL Top 9 Results Show and week two of TOUCH gave FOX a Thursday victory among Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Adults 25-54 and Teens.  FOX beat its nearest competitor for the night by +9% in Adults 18-49 (3.5 vs. 3.2 for CBS) and +24% in Adults 18-34 (2.1 vs. 1.7 for CBS).

FOX has now ranked #1 for 11 Thursdays in a row among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34.

  • AMERICAN IDOL: 4.2/13, up +5% from last week’s fast nationals and even with last week’s finals. (Note that IDOL should go up 1-2 tenths in the finals this afternoon)
  • AMERICAN IDOL was also up +2% in Total Viewers vs. last week’s fast nationals (15.3 vs. 15.0 Mil.)
  • IDOL was the #1 program of the night in Total Viewers
  • IDOL won its 8pm hour in Adults 18-49, Adults 18-34, Teens and Total Viewers and beat the #2 competitors in the hour by +17% in Adults 18-49 (vs. Big Bang Theory/Rules of Engagement) and +37% in Total Viewers (vs. Big Bang Theory/Rules of Engagement.)
  • IDOL grew in its second half hour versus its first by +24% in Adults 18-49 (4.6 vs. 3.7) and +21% in Total Viewers (16.7 vs. 13.8 Mil.)
  • TOUCH: 2.8/7 – retained 85% of last week’s premiere rating
  • TOUCH won the 9pm hour among Adults 18-34 and Teens.
  • So far, TOUCH is up +25% in Adults 18-49 and +35% in Total Viewers vs. FOX’s prior season average for originals in the Thurs 9-10pm time slot.

Competition

Week three of new ABC drama Missing posted a 1.4/4 at 8pm, down -13% from last Thursday (3 week progression — 2.1 > 1.6 > 1.4). Repeats of Grey’s Anatomy (1.2/3) and Private Practice (0.9/2) followed at 9pm and 10pm.

At 8p, CBS’s Big Bang Theory (4.5/15) matched its season low, down -13% from its most recent original (5.2/15 on 3/8/12). From 8:30-10p, Rules of Engagement (2.8/8, +4%), Person of Interest (3.3/9, -3%) and The Mentalist (2.7/8, -4%) were all in line with their most recent Thursday originals.

NBC’s Community (1.7/6) and 30 Rock (1.5/4) were both even with last week. Following a repeat Office at 9p (1.2/3), Up All Night (1.3/4) and Awake (1.0/3) both hit season lows, down -13% and -17% from last week (1.5/4 and 1.2/3).
