For those who wished to file comments with the FCC in regard to the Commission’s 2018 quadrennial review of its media ownership rules, the final day for submissions was Monday, April 29.

In all, the FCC received 918 comments, including several hundred from recording artists who used boilerplate language to protest further radio industry consolidation.

On the final day one could file comments with the Commission, iHeartMedia used its own words to state whether it is for or against a weakening of its local ownership caps.

The company’s filing is a surprise, and a bit of a compromise. Yet, it could ignite a whole new battle among radio broadcasting companies eager to better draw ad dollars and consumers away from local digital media.
