Danu RadioCCME and Danu Media announced that DaNu Radio’s Russian American programming from NYC (WNYZ-LP 87.7 mHz) is now also available on iHeartRadio and WWPR-HD2 for local listeners in NYC.

DaNu Radio is the only Russian-speaking entertainment-geared broadcast station in the USA delivering music, entertainment and talk programming specifically for the Russian American community. DaNu Radio also provides a unique opportunity for advertisers and businesses to connect with the Russian American community, which are an engaged, affluent and rapidly growing demographic of more than 6.5 million people across the U.S. This programming is owned by, created by and delivered to immigrants who are American residents and are very proud to be part of this country and proud to celebrate Independence Day.

“We are excited to have DaNu Radio join our Clear Channel New York family and to extend its reach onto our strongest HD2 signal 105.1 and iHeartRadio,” said Joe Puglise, Market President, Clear Channel New York.  “DaNu Radio serves the Russian American listener base with vital content and programming that keeps them connected to each other and their roots — we’re excited to offer this unique programming to our listeners and the 1.6 million ethnic Russian population living in the New York area.”

“We are definitely living the American dream – our station now has a chance to connect, entertain and inform the Russian American community nationwide and provides us with an opportunity to grow our business! This is remarkable for our team, our listeners and our clients. The ethnic Russian Americans are very important to the fabric of the USA and we are very proud to call ourselves Americans, having our own radio station available everywhere is super exciting. I invite everyone to listen in NYC and on iHeartRadio from any city. We promise to continue to work hard for our community and to be entertaining,” said Anna Pekerman, who became a well-known figure in her community when she broadcasted for 72 straight hours after the 9/11 tragedies in NYC.  Pekerman continues to be an important news connection for Russian Americans.

RBR-TVBR observation: From 2/11/08 to 9/30/09, WNYZ-LP operated the EDM  format of “Pulse 87” on 87.7 FM, or Channel 6 audio. The station is operated by legendary NYC programmer Joel Salkowitz, who purchased the Pulse 87 automation equipment and the intellectual property in a bankruptcy auction from Island Broadcasting, which owns the license. Pulse 87 is now online. WNYZ-LP now airs Danu Radio from 6A-7P.
